Les by Dead Serious Lovers / / indie-rock

I posted about Dead Serious Lovers a few weeks ago. I went to the album release for this record at the Bing and have been completely blown away by these songs. They are beautiful, sorrowful and really really unique. Proud of these guys for keeping at it. They are currently one of the longest standing local bands in Spokane.

Runt by Terrible Buttons // moody americana

This album isn’t out quite yet but you can preview a few tracks and preorder it. I know for a fact that recording an album is an incredible undertaking…but recording an album with seven people in the band?? They have been working tirelessly on this record and from what I’ve heard, it will be fantastic. Another favorite Spokane local band.

Off My Chain by Cathedral Pearls / / experimental-folk-pop

I will refrain as much as possible from self-promoting too much on this blog, but I just had to post the new release by my band. It’s a really fun, homey, songwriting experiment and I think you will like it. And it’s cheap. Pay $1 or more and get all 8 songs. Album art by the fantastic Eric Smith.

Don’t Forget Me by Le Wrens / / folk-alt-country

Le Wrens is actually a band out of the Seattle area but I’m so excited about this release that I just had to share! And it was mixed by my other half, Caleb Ingersoll who is a Spokane dweller so that qualifies it plenty. The Gundersen family comprises most of Le Wrens. They have a young, simple, sweet approach to folk songwriting and it sits right in the pocket. It’s mostly folk with an ever so slight country influence here and there. I so very much enjoy these songs and the album art by NO THEFT.

Buena Vista by Kevin Long / / indie folk

There’s a whole lot of people who have been anticipating this record since he raised money for it last year on kickstarter. Kevin is a Spokane native who now lives in Seattle. This release is a bit more mellow than Small Town Talk, Kevin’s debut record. He pulled out all the stops on this masterpiece with a glorious landscape of string arrangements behind his simple finger-style guitar playing. His songwriting is a true artful expression of story and emotion. It’s really beautiful.
