February is a big month for visual art in Spokane. It’s perfect timing if you ask me. February is the worst month of the year in Spokane and art is exactly what we need to get through. This week the Inlander puts out a guide showing off all the art that’s viewable around the city during February. We selected a few shows to direct your attention to on this First Friday featuring artists that you might be somewhat familiar with.

Bovey Showvey

Spokane First Friday - Chris Bovey

See all of Chris Bovey’s awesome landmark prints in one spot, including a new print featuring The Big Dipper and an unveiling of a secret new print. Can’t wait to see which location will be added to the list. Blue Door Theater on Garland hosts this fine event starting at 6pm.

Artery Anatomy

Artery Anatomy

Artery Anatomy is an exciting themed group show including some of our favorite local artists, Tiffany Patterson, Devon Plopper, Derrick King, Mariko Sullivan and more. The theme is that each artist was given a custom, handmade wood panel in the shape of either an intact heart or a broken heart. They create their piece on the panel and the collection will hang at Bon Bon (just down the street from Bovey’s show) for the whole month.

Show Poster Show

The bartlett Poster Show

At The Bartlett we are hosting a pop up art show for the first time! We love show posters, so what better art form to showcase in our first few months than Poster art? We’ve gathered a bunch of different awesome local designers to show prints in the venue. Eric Smith, Tony Kuchar, Kristin Violet, Nick Tibbetts, Michael Shamberg, Danielle Davis, Kaarin Swanson and more! This will make a great last stop on your art tour downtown as we’ll be open a bit later than most artist receptions. Here’s a few previews of some of the prints…
